AIS Newsletter - Upcoming Events, Membership Renewal & Job Opportunities

Association of Indian Students

Hi Guys & Gals,

Firstly, we are happy to welcome all the new Indian students coming here in USC. We also welcome all the continuing students. As the first week of classes almost comes to an end, we at AIS have been working on in how and when we can conduct the events for this semester. We will be keeping you all informed about the details of the various events in the next newsletter.

We are also tabling at the Engineering Quad (The area next to OHE) at 12 pm to 2 pm from Tuesday to Friday. So, you guys can come in and get registered as a member in AIS. Just like last year, we charge a membership fee of $10 per person. Since we have a yearly membership system, all the existing members are also expected to sign up as an AIS member for the next academic year.

We are currently working on a new layout for our AIS website, so if you have any changes of any of the contents given in the website, please email us. Also would be adding a new gallery for the website. So, if you guys want to share some of the photos with us and add it into the website, please email it to us india@usc.edu with the event name and year.

We are also joining hands in conducting some events happening in the next few days. We have listed them below.

We hope that we will be meeting all you guys in these events.

Thank You.

HSO Ganapti Pooja Festive

Date: 1st September, 2007 (Saturday)

Time: 4 to 5 pm

Venue: Fishbowl Chapel, Office of Religious Life (Between University Church and the Health Center)

The Hindu Students Organization (HSO) of University of Southern California cordially invites you for the celebration of Shree Ganesh Pooja.

The HSO has taken up the initiative to celebrate the Ganesh Chaturthi on the eve of Maha Sankatahara Chaturthi, in the honor of Shree Lord Ganesh, The God of Wisdom and Learning.

Shree Ganesh Chaturthi is traditionally celebrated in India with great zeal and enthusiasm. The intent is to mirror the atmosphere of celebrations and festivities in India at USC. This year, this falls on September 15 th, 2007.

Maha Sankatahara Chaturthi is the chaturthi which comes just before Ganesh Chaturthi. If we pray to Lord Ganesh on that day, it is believed to relieve us from our sins and help us cross all the difficulties which we face. Hence we at HSO thought that we all can celebrate this day together and pray the Lord to help us through all the things we do in the coming semester.

Shree Lord Ganesha is coming to USC Campus at this auspicious ceremony to bless all the students for their academic success. Please don't miss this opportunity.
