After the smashing Garba .. hope all of you are getting ready for an even more exciting Diwali Show!!

 

And here is your last chance at stealing the lime light – join us on Wednesday evening for Compering auditions. Bring along your creative cells, a lot of energy and spirit and we will decide if you have it in you to set the stage ablaze.

Thank you for participating in AIS Garba

Last Saturday, AIS celebrated Garba at USC, and the event was a great success.
 
We take this opportunity to thank you for the support that you rendered in bringing this event to life. We value your contributions and hope that we share such relationship for a long time to come.

Announcement for Diwali Event Hi,

We are looking for participants (Boys and Girls) to perform for Bhangra and other Dance event at AIS Diwali function on 12th Nov 06.

AIS is organizing the Garba festival on 21st-Oct-2006 at Lyon Center. It is free event for all USC students. The event is held in USC on the Day of Diwali a festival of lights celebrated to mark the coming New Year (2063) of the Hindu Calendar.

So please come and join us to celebrate the oncoming New Year with Classical Gujarati Music and Dance.

 INDIAN FILM FESTIVAL AT THE UNIVERSITY OF SOUTHERN CALIFORNIA, OCTOBER 27TH AND 28TH.

        You are invited to the University of Southern California's Indian Film Festival on October 27th and 28th, to meet eminent Indian filmmakers Vidhu Vinod Chopra, Ketan Mehta, Rajkumar Hirani, and attend two days of film screenings.

TICKETS: Screenings are FREE to the public so NO TICKET are necessary, but you are required to make reservations by going to http://cntvcommunity.usc.edu.  Look for the individual films listed below under "CNTV Events" and click on "make reservation" for the screening you want to attend. Events will be overbooked so please arrive 15 minutes early for the screenings.

(1) October 27th, 6:00 pm: LAGE RAHO MUNNABHAI (Rajkumar Hirani, 2006), 130 minutes, followed by discussion with veteran filmmaker and producer VIDHU VINOD CHOPRA and director RAJKUMAR HIRANI.

(2) October 28th, 9:30 am: MANGAL PANDEY: THE RISING (Ketan Mehta, 2005), 150 minutes, followed by a discussion with celebrated filmmaker KETAN MEHTA.

(3) October 28th, 2:00 pm – 3:00 pm: Panel Discussion with Ketan Mehta, Vidhu Vinod Chopra, Samir Mallal, Professor Bhaskar Sarkar and Sumun Pendakur, moderated by Professor Priya Jaikumar on "Nationalism and Globalism in Indian Cinema."

(4) October 28th, 3:00 pm: BOMBAY CALLING (Samir Mallal and Ben Addelman, 2005), 72 minutes, followed by discussion with director SAMIR MALLAL.

(5) October 28th, 5:30 pm: MIRCH MASALA (Ketan Mehta, 1985), 130 minutes, followed by a discussion with director KETAN MEHTA and catered reception for festival attendees, accompanied by DJ Anand and Margarita's Music. Dance by USC's Anjaane Bollywood dance group.

EGSA Welcome Party and General Meeting

Hello Fellow Trojans,
